强台风“海棠”袭台 数十人受伤

Typhoon Haitang hit northern Taiwan Monday with torrential rain.
(A family of three defies risks and appreciates giant waves whipped up by
Typhoon Haitang outside Taiwan's northern city of Keelung Monday. Haitang
pounded Taiwan with heavy winds and rain, killing at least one and injuring 58
people and shutting down airports and financial markets.)
At least 58 people were injured and over one million households were left
without electricity when typhoon Haitang hit northern Taiwan Monday with
torrential rain and wind gusting at over 230 kilometers per hour, according to
reports reaching here from Taipei.
The reports said most of injured were hurt by falling trees, billboards and
broken glass. Some of them were motorcyclists who were hurt when they were
knocked off their bikes by the gusting wind.
Strong winds disrupted power supplies in the counties of Changhua, Pingtung,
Yunlin, Tainan, Hualien and Ilan. Statistics show that as of Monday morning,
more than 1.07 million households were without electricity.
Continuing heavy rain caused considerable damage to crops in Kaohsiung County.
The county government estimated that 1,132 hectares of farmland were flooded,
with losses running at nearly 100 million new Taiwan dollars.
中新社台北七月十八日电(记者董会峰)强台风“海棠”袭台，各地陆续传出灾情。到今晚记者发稿时，已知有三人死亡、数十人受伤、一人失踪。
综合台湾媒体报道，台中县卫生局今晚统计，该县共有五十四名伤患送医救治，其中二人重伤；在风雨交加中，该县一位黄姓果农不幸遭落石击中，因道路中断，来不及送医死去。桃园县、台北市各发现一具女浮尸。台北县三人轻伤，一人失踪；高雄市有十八人轻、重伤；台北市有十人受伤；其它多个县市也有人受伤。
农作物受到重创。“行政院农业委员会”统计，截至今天下午四时，“海棠”台风造成农业损失金额估计为新台币四亿五千四百六十万元。高雄县府农业局初步调查统计，该县首日农业损失近一亿元；宜兰县农业初估损失达四千六百多万元；截至今天下午二时，台中县农业损失金额已达三千二百余万元；嘉义县农业损失初估一千五百万元；花莲地区的木瓜、香蕉、西瓜、酪梨和文旦柚也严重受损。
昨夜，全台普降豪雨。花莲、兰屿地区的最大风力达十七级。到今晚，宜兰太平山山区的降雨量已超过一千毫米。台东今天则出现了摄氏三十八以上的焚风。全台有上百万户遭遇停电之扰。
在台北市，昨夜风大雨疾。今天早上，本社记者在一0一大楼附近看到，路边停放的摩托车成排倒下，一些小树被大风拔根而起，绿色的树叶散满一地。午后，风雨变小。在忠孝东路四段的一个路口，记者看到，有两棵碗粗的树拦腰折断，台北环保局的工人正在清理树枝和落叶。下午三时多，太阳穿云而出，空中还一度出现彩虹。
下午四时十分许，记者来到位于台北市消防局三楼的灾害应变中心。数十名工作人员正在忙碌着。墙上的“灾害损失统计表”电子板显示：九人受轻伤、一人重伤，二百一十五棵路树倾倒，停电二万五千三百三十八户，停水二十户，火警四个。
因应强台风，全台各地启动灾害应变中心，今日停工停课；台北股、汇市休市一天；“台铁”列车百年来首次全线停驶，下午才恢复松山至新竹区间列车；岛内航班及九成飞岛外航线停飞，傍晚有部分航班复飞，约一万两千名乘客受到影响；台北捷运今早延后一小时营运，车次减少。
